Model City Polish Madness!!

Hello Lovelies!!  I have been super crazy ridiculous busy and I apologize a million times over for not having nightly postings up!  I promise I will try to be better!!  To make up for it I have something pretty freaking amazing to share with you today!  I approached the amazing Miss Nina (owner and creator of Model City Polish if you don't already know) about doing an interview for my blog.  She happily agreed so without further ado here is my interview! My questions will be in blue and the answers are in green to keep with the theme of the polishes!

When did Model City Polish become a reality for you? meaning when did you know that you were going to start making polish for the masses?
I guess about two years ago now. My brother in law was the one who gave me the final kick to take it beyond franken blends for myself. I couldn't be happier at how much things have grown and all the amazing friends I have made.
You are very well known in the nail polish community! Personallu I have never had a polish of yours I wasn't happy with! How do you keep up with all of the trends of nail polish and stay ahead of the curve?
Awww, thank you!!!! That makes me so happy to hear! To be honest I just create based off what I love and inspires me. I would say well over half my blends are inspired by things I love or found memories. I don't try to make things just to make a buck. I may not be the trendy one at times but my service and quality is what makes MCP what it is.
Honestly that is what I admire most about you! I would like to take a moment to talk about your charity polish from last year called Coal. How much did you end up raising for local humane shelters?
We ended up being able to raise just under $50 so I added a little extra and talked with my local shelter. The money ended up being put towards their spay and neuter program.  I am hoping to create another fun blend to help out Untamed Mountain next. Their program is amazing! http://www.tigersfortomorrow.org
I honestly think that anyone who is willing to donate time, money, or goods to benefit animals is truly a stand up person! I am a huge supporter of helping animals! You have a new collection coming out March 22nd and I was so unbelievably honored to be able to receive two of these amazing polishes! Tell us about this amazing new collection in your own words since I don't think I can do it justice.
I actually have two collections, busy me! You got to review two though from my pride and joy, the Resident Evil inspires series. I absolutely love the series!!!! My obsession started out many many moons ago on the original Playstation. Every Thursday night my mom worked second shift so my Stepdad and I would spend all evening playing. He would play and I would direct and point things out. Over time it became our thing. Once the movie series came out we had a standing date for each release. Since the series means so much to me in so many ways it had to be perfect! I mixed and changed formulas for months until I was completely satisfied. And yes, there was a LOT of movie watching while I created. Each blend represents various aspects of both the games and movies.
I was big into the movies (I played a few of the games but the movies were what really had me hooked.) and I can tell you that T-Virus and Anti-Virus are dead matches for their inspirations! I have to say that your polish is one of my favorite brands ever! The formula's are to die for and I swear you are some sort of wizard with how well your glitters behave! You said there is another collection being released as well and I am so excited to see what else you have coming out! Where do you see MCP going in the future?
Thank you! I had actually started out with the desire to make blends based off of the herbs in the game but while watching the movie I shifted to the vials as inspiration. I think they both turned out perfectly and hopeful all other fans to the series will agree. 😊 For the future I am just going to keep creating things I love and offering the best service possible. In the process I will be having a blast and living the dream. I have a few fun things planned and some awesome packaging for my cuticle oil line that I hope to be revealing for my two year celebration.
That is really exciting! I am always looking for good cuticle oil!! Is there anything you would like to say to your fans before we wrap this up?
To the fans: A huge thank you to all who have supported, followed, and promoted me in the past 22 months! You could never imagine how much this means to me and has helped me get through some very tough personal times. You are all simply amazing and I am so grateful to have each and every one of you in my life!
And I want to thank you for you amazing polish, customer service and in general your contribution to the nail polish community as a whole! Thank you so much for your time!
You guys are what keeps me going! 😊
Now onto the polishes!  First up we have t-Virus.
t-Virus is blue crelly blend on the verge of being a jelly and is filled with light blue holographic glitter in hexes, squares, and a splash of micro bars.  I am wearing three thin coats with a single later of Seche Vite on top in my swatches.

And here we have Anti-Virus.
Anti-virus is a bright, rich green jelly with green holographic glitter in two different sizes. Again I am wearing three thin coats of Anti-Virus with a snigle layer of Seche Vite on top.

I am so in love with these polishes!  I honestly don't know how Nina gets her glitters to behave so well but I honestly had no issue getting them on cleanly and without any fighting for placement.  I swear she has a wizard wand hidden somewhere!  Clean up was also a breeze and I didn't have to fight at all with removing the glitters.  Granted I tend to pick a lot of my nail polish off but usually I have to fight for days to get the glitters off!

Well there you have it Lovelies!  Be sure to check out Miss Nina's new shop Model City Polish and pick up some of her amazing polishes! I hope to get another post up tomorrow but we will see how the day goes!  Tootles for now!!

Comparison - Whimsy vs. Rebel

Hello Lovelies!  I'm sorry that my blogging has been so sporadic lately but I have been a busy busy nail polish junky!  My new brand is coming along nicely and I have 5 formulas tested tried and true to open on 4-11-14!   I am planning something pretty big for the launch so make sure to mark your calendars!

Today I am going to do a little compare and contrast for you!  First I am going to give you the details on these two polishes.  then I will show you my side by side swatches!

First up we have pIcture pOlish in Whimsy.  This polish costs $14.50 before shipping from Llarowe.  It is described as such on the site; "Whimsy is a aqua blue creme with just a hint of gold sparks a totally dreamy combination".  I have swatched this previously and was not at all impressed with the polish for the price.

I am comparing it to Zoya's Rebel from their new awaken spring line!  Rebel is $9.00 before shipping from zoya.com and is described as such on the site: "Zoya Rebel can best be described as a full coverage blue sky metallic with a silver shimmer"

My swatches show two coats of each polish with no base or top coat.  My index and pinkie have Zoyas Rebel and my middle and ring fingers have pIcture pOlish Whimsy.

So in conclusion pIcture pOlish Whimsy is a just a hair brighter that Zoya Rebel but honestly at a price difference of almost 5 dollars before shipping I would definitely suggest Zoyas Rebel.  The formula is much better and opaque in just two coats with no horrid streaks or lumps.  pIcture pOlish Whimsy is very streaky and lumpy and in my opinion way over priced.  Also I want to add that Zoyas Rebel is a full 15mL for $9.00 and Whimsy is only 11 mL for $14.50.

Hope you liked this installment and who knows I may make this a regular thing!  I have Deborah Lippman's Bad Romance and the supposed Revlon dupe in my possession!

Zoya Nail Polish in Rebel can be best described as a full-coverage blue sky metallic with a silver shimmer. Top with 1-2 layers of special effect topper, Zoya Monet, for a fun accent! - See more at: http://zoya.com/content/item/Zoya/Zoya-Nail-Polish-in-Rebel-ZP724.html#sthash.JV7A0nL5.dpuf

Show and Tell - My Nail Polish Heaven!

Hello Lovelies!!  I have been a busy busy polish addict and FINALLY have my room set up how I want it!  I had to cut my nails down to nubs last night so instead of swatching something I thought it is high time I show you where the magic happens!  My boyfriend was kind enough to give me an entire room in his house to do what I wanted with.  After a lot of hard work, painting, broken nails, rearranging, acquiring of shelves and stands and chairs, I have it almost perfect!  I am going to be refinishing the floors at some point but honestly that can wait until summer time!

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years now and we have had some rough times.  We have known each other for most of our lives and even though I had a crush on him he barely even knew I existed as a teenager.  It finally took my brother being too much of a wuss to drive into the city and pick me up from the train station for him to see me.  There I was getting off of a 5 day train ride with my two kids.  No shower, barely any sleep, in my pajamas I had been wearing for what seemed like a lifetime.  I had everything I could pack into bags in my possession and my kids terrified of being in New York City.  I had moved us across the country to start anew and my brother needed my boyfriend (his best friend) to drive into the city.  Well, long story short I had forgotten a bag at the train station and had to go back.  The boyfriend volunteered to take me back.  So we spent an entire day together going back to New York to get the one bag that had my belongings (the rest were the kids) in it. Four short months later he and his father were begging me to move in with them since the house was in desperate need of a woman's touch.  Which brings us to where we are today!  My daughter, myself, and my boyfriend live in this gorgeous house together happily.  His father passed away this past September (on his birthday none the less), and we have been fixing it up in honor of him.  My son lives in California with his dad.

Well now that you have my life story let me tell you how this post came to be!

My boyfriend and I have had some rough patches lately due to all of the ups and downs.  Well today he walked into my nail polish heaven and said "You know, if you ever doubt how much I love you I want you to stand where I am right now (in the door way) and look around! I have given you an entire room to do what you want with when I don't have any of my "own" space in this house." Then he grabbed me and kissed me! It damn near made me cry!!

So here it is!  In all of its glory!

So there you have it Lovelies!  This is exactly what he sees when he stands in the door way and turns from left to right looking around the room.  This is what he has given me.  Honestly I couldn't love him more for it!!  Yes he is a tool sometimes and a complete putz other times.  But, every night when I am sitting in here relaxing, or counting my polishes, or whatever it may be, I know that he is the reason I have this wonderful place of my own!

Enough mushy junk!  That is the insanity that is my blogging/nail polish/bunny room.  Now to go clean it up a bit!!

Kiss Me Deadly Part 2!

Hello Lovelies!  Are you ready for the epicness that is part 2?  I am going to cut straight to the chase here and say that all of these polishes are wonderfully amazing!  The formula holds true to what I have come to expect from Gothic Gala Lacquers.  Everything was a dream to put on and photograph!  I have the final four for this installment and they are Vampire's Kiss, Darkest Kiss, Spectral Kiss and Kiss of Death.

First we have Vampire's Kiss.  This is a deep blood red creme/jelly combination (known in the polish world as a crelly).  It is packed full of metallic red tiny hex glitters and a slight shimmer.  It dries to a gorgeous matte finish but something magical happens when you add a shiny top coat as well!  The pictures below show two coats of Vampire's Kiss.  I am happy to report as well that I had no staining even without a base coat!

Next I have for you Darkest Kiss.  This is the polish that started it all!  Samantha said she wanted to do a gothic inspired, dark and twisty type collection and I requested a holographic matte black.  Well it turned into this amazing Suede finish with a scattered holographic black! This polish is opaque in just one coat but I always have to do at least two coats.

Now for my favorite of the collection (shhh don't tell the others)!  This amazing ghostly blue is aptly named Spectral Kiss.  It is a gorgeous powder blue with an amazing blue and silver spark!  This polish is a must have for any and all blue polish lovers!  Below is shown two coats of Spectral Kiss.

And the star of the collection is a most versatile top coat.  Kiss of Death is a holographic top coat with purple, blue, and holographic glitters.  I will be doing a blog post showing the different ways this polish can be worn in the very near future! I have shown below one and two coats over Spectral Kiss.

Well there you have it Lovelies!  I am truly in love with this collection and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.  I have been working on this post for the last 8 hours so I am going to call it quits and get some much needed housework done!  Let me know what you think below!
